Robert Ward loves to travel by car to out of the way areas of North America searching for nature subjects to photograph. Viewers of his work frequently tell him that his images are relaxing and remind them of their own pleasurable experiences.
Self-taught, he gives credit to his long-standing involvement with the Don Mills Camera Club where he is still a member and one of only four ‘Master’ photographers. He is also an accredited judge for other clubs in the Greater Toronto area.
For over 20 years his work has been marketed through the web, art shows and his own gallery. Prints are held in collections in over 30 countries and in excess of 2500 images have been photographed, printed, framed and sold by him. The web site shows some of his limited-edition (s/n 25’s) photographs but he also markets a line of unnumbered open-edition framed prints.
The portfolio has been expanded to include still life and what he describes as ‘mind benders’ (abstract) images.
In 2003 he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee medal for his involvement in the arts and community service and has been recognized with numerous awards at the international, national and local levels.
